Please do note that the roll simulation of OpenRocket is flaky at best. The 'extension' example now uses the extension mechanism to add both listeners The 'scripting' example now uses JavaScript scripts to perform the same tasks as in the extension example Finishes fix. The best documentation available is the user's guide documentation and existing examples: Great way to debug issues on ground, and we found several critical bugs in the flight software that way. The Aerodynamics and Rocket Stability team was sought out to help the club meet its altitude goals. Like mentioned, I've implemented simulation of our own roll control system in OR, even to the point that the physical on-board computer has done the calculations, sent control commands to OpenRocket which then simulates the next flight conditions that are sent back to the flight computer. > Sorry I havent had a chance to look at the new optimum delay > calculation. You can measure drag in a wind tunnel and use that relationship to calculate Cd, or you can estimate Cd and use it to calculate drag. It could also just modify the initial conditions (say, > fetch current weather conditions), or replace the AtmosphericModel in use. OpenRocket is a program that you can use to design and simulate a rocket before you actually build it. It isnt so much that Cd and drag are defined in terms of each other as there is a mathematical relationship between them. I've been planning on implementing a simpler plugin interface for creating simulation extensions and other plugins for OR, but it's a bit stuck at the moment. A simulation extension > can - among other things - attach simulation listeners to a simulation when > its being run. Note: Red curve is an example rocket velocity verses altitude simulation. ![]() The simulation listeners are quite technically complex at the moment. ![]()
